UE fails to secure seat in the Final Four

For the first time since 2001, UE Red Warriors will not appearing in the UAAP 73 men's basketball Final Four when NU Bulldogs negated its campaign after a heartbreaking 69-68 loss during Sunday’s game, 29 August 2010 at the Araneta Coliseum.

NU Bulldogs ceased last year's runner-up Warriors from the chance of getting near to this year's Final Four. Bulldog big man, a Cameroonian rookie Emmanuel Mbe steps his way to lead his team and giving NU a hope for the prestigious four. He finished the game with 18 points, 9 rebounds and a block.

Although Warriors did not simply exit without giving the opponent a good fight. UE Red Warrior’s team Captain James Martinez again stepped-up for his team and nailing a rare three point play caused from Ponferrada’s fifth foul to give UE a 6-0 run and pushing his team to a 65-66 score card at 61 seconds remaining on the clock.

But it was Paul Lee who suffered big time on his shooting with a 4-out-of-13 from the fields that squandered a most important possession when he hurriedly jump against Mervin Baloran that opted to split his charities and giving NU a 4-point advantage.

UE Raphy Reyes sealed the game with his bizarre triple shot with only two seconds remaining to the final buzzer. NU Bulldogs won the game with a final score of 69 against 68 of UE Red Warriors.

The only reason I watch the UAAP because of the UE Red Warriors, ehem seriously speaking who ever want to watch an overrated league who’s focus set only for two teams; as if UAAP is only composed of Ateneo and La Salle. I am very sad that Warriors have to rest this early, huhu.

But then again, you have fought what a Warriors should be so nevertheless a big congratulations to all the Warriors, especially to James Martinez and Paul Zamar, er they’re my Facebook friends by-the-way, lol.
