Life in the Province: Slow yet Refreshing #probinsiya

It's a breath of fresh air. The slow-paced life away from the hustle and bustle of the city is a welcome change of atmosphere. I we...

TRESE: Murder on Balete Drive

One of my hobbies is to collect comics, my collections are mostly Marvel titles and my favorites are the X titles;).

During my visit in the province last week and since Bacolod airport was transferred to Silay so to get back to Bacolod, I have taken a shuttle bus. I will be dropping at SM (the mall) to meeting a friend.

And as I am waiting for this friend who happened to be an hour late to the agreed time (stupid friend and I came all the way from Manila for that matter). I decided to visit National Bookstore, this is the thing that I like about NBS, you can always disguised yourself to having fun reading books when the truth, deep inside your heart you want to kill someone by just keeping you wait for ages.

Then I spotted this particular book in black and white; TRESE: Murder on Balete Drive - revealed the title. I have not read any of Budgette Tan’s work before though at some point I think I have heard of the name from the pages of Jessica Zafra’s Twisted books but upon seeing the Alamat logo at the bottom of its cover, the rush of excitement suddenly became apparent. “I need to get a copy of this book” – in my mind.

I had a fun memories with Alamat Comics, some four years ago; I have traded to a friend the Gerry Alanguilan comicbook to a Neil Gaiman’s Sandman: Endless Nights. Can you imagine the luck? A 100 php worth of comics to a hardbound book that cost more that 2000 bucks hahaha, uh wait, that’s not quite true. The truth is, I have actually traded her the Gerry Alanguilan comics, A Jessica Zafra, Twisted (I think its the Sixth) and Bob Ong’s Alamat ng Gubat, she’s from the States so she’s dying for Pinoy writers and in return she gave me the Neil Gaiman’s American Gods and Sandman: Endless Nights both in hardbound – ofcourse to my joy.

Back to the book, TRESE is fun to read, a bit of unusual but clever, it’s actually a brilliant piece of work. The author uses familiar characters and presented them in a new and unexpected way not typical of what we have usually seen or read on these characters. He makes use of these iconic Pinoy folklore characters in the most and wicked of ways - a detective who her line of duty is to solve the crimes that may have connected to the paranormal activities, ala X-Files. Imagine the White Lady was murdered?

The art was great, Kajo Baldisimo is a promising artist, give him more of years and he will be joining the league of Whilce Portacio, Leinil Yu, Gerry Alanguilan and Philip Tan to name few of Pinoy comic superstars who graces the pages of the mainstream titles of both Marvel and DC.

Redemption!

It seems that my blog is now stable (hope this will be forever hehe), my Entrecard widget is now working, my code for Payperpost is now running fine. My Alexa is now down to 250,796 though as usual my PR is stuck to one, I wish Google will not condemn me for being so hard lols (excuse me, you were the one being hard to me for all I know haha).

The missing pieces for now are my posts ofcourse but then again I can replace it with a new content.

Yippeee, and I have so much to blog about I got some interesting topics way back from my five day vacation, so I might as well share it to you.

And to those who commented, thank you very much. I badly needed it lolz and to my new readers just to give you a preview of what happened to this blog, here it is.

A couple of months back this blog has been flagged having Objectional Content which ofcourse I cannot accept simply because any angry monger readers could do these harms even it's not true at all, just for the sake of creating havoc. And for that I condemn Google/Blogger for it seems to me a VERY illogical option - for their campaign against eradicating spam and un-appropriate content blogs.

From then on this blog’s activity has been blocked from analytics, entrecard and down to some of blog advertising programs, which is very annoying since at some point, I monetize this blog (hello global crisis ahaha).

Till next time, kitakits.

My Vacation: A Glimpse

I had a five day vacation last week, I had to visit my folks and friends back in my hometown, Bacolod. I really need fresh air these days as to clear my mind from the frustrations inflicted by Google (Google taena ka hanggat di mo binabalik status ng blog ko, dila mo lang walang latay saken, pakamatay ka na - bogaloids, abnormalites hayup - bwahaha Bob Ong pahiram ha, thanks mwah - teka wak na pala tulog ka na lang ulit kaya ko naman eh, ‘nu ka ngayon? Belat).

It has been a fun vacation; I had visited some of my friends in high school and it's a joy seeing them again. Reminiscing the old good days was hilarious, traveling back down that memory lane and talking of what have become of us while sipping beer in between was like heaven. Uh, I feel like I am a 17 year old hormonal kid once again hahaha.

We had so much fun, then we shifted our topic to our classmate who was once a very ladylike, one with the prettiest faces in our year, possesses a dazzling, shiny deep black hair that seems to catch light and throw it away and dancing gracefully as if flirting with the wind, a member of a church choir; and now, she had morphed into a man, (omg) waaah. According to my friends every time she would visit them, she was always in black leather suits; the boot, the jacket and the pants (I want to ask about the under garments but junked the idea and instead contented with a grin;), in her Harley Davidson motorbike (she’s kind of rich girl), imagine Kate Beckinsale of the Underworld minus the femininity, a Goth Mad Dog eh.

I cannot imagine how she has dramatically changed that way when all my recollections about her were that she’s a lady of elegance and poise. I bet she could even win a beauty contest with such grace but then again I came from a place where BB Gandanghari is a living proof.

And I need to pee right now, so I’ll continue my misadventure next time, kitakits;)

Taking the Flight

As you may have noticed contents of this blog have gone, I have risked to get rid of that Content Warning sign. Google is unhelpful. I’ve been trying to contact them for ages and no reply whatsoever and the nerve of them to put such feature when they cannot even accommodate when problem arises.

So I might as well take the matter in my own hand, while it is true that I still have grudges over what happened to this blog but I think it is best to start moving on. The world outside is so bright just to be stuck in here lols (may hugot hahaha).

And as a starting point, I have to find ways on how to retain my blog URL (http://maalamat.blogspot.com) without the annoying sign. Ofcourse not without downs, I have to trade my content, imagine the other week I have reached the 100 posts and now it’s back at one (kanta ito, tok).

I think I am close to solving it, let see if this one works though. I mean, I have taken a vacation just to put myself in solitude amidst the serenity of nature. So I can concentrate on thinking of any possible ways to get back my blog.

I am glad I have found one and I have also disabled the NavBar, so I guess it is good to assume that it’s SAFE for now from the abusive readers, unless Google will lost its temper and get back on me which ofcourse, I am ready. Bring it on haha.

Yehey! My widgets are now back to normal and working just fine, this only mean one thing - the adventure of Alamat da Badigard continues…

So dear readers, give me a warm welcome lols.
