Unboxing Huawei MateBook D 14

I'm at my wits' end when my laptop broke down the other week. Well, it's not totally like being useless. I was in the middle of working, has been a busy day for me. I've been on the computer for five straight hours in front of my laptop when lo and behold! Its upper half screen started to pixelized.

I have informed our IT about what happened - by the way, I am working from home. I send him the screenshot of the monitor and request a replacement unit. He answered me with both bad and good news remarks. Lol. The bad news there is no available unit as there are a handful of new hires recently. The good news, as a temporary remedy, while waiting for the new one, he will be sending me a computer monitor. Since from the looks of the screenshot only the screen is defective, its internal is still working. I have to use extended monitor.

I have to file an 'out-of-office' leave because I cannot work without a device. I don't have a spare computer at home. The temporary unit will be coming in the morning but as the weather was not at its best our company driver unable to deliver on the said date. I have to wait for another day. Again I have extended my leave. Good for me, I can rest, but our US client was anxious and keep on asking my colleague when I will be coming back. I am a VIP at work. Lol.

On the second day while I knew a temporary unit is coming. Still, I'm feeling uncomfortable for one, what if it won't work? I cannot afford to extend another day of absence.

Reluctantly, I decided to go out and visit the nearest shopping mall to scout for a new laptop. I have planned of buying anyway since I started to blog again. I want a MacBook, I have already added it to my cart in my Apple Store but I didn't pursue just yet because Powermac has better pricing being currently in promo price. I intend to visit the store one of these days until that unfortunate event happened.

There was only one store selling laptop in Ever Gotesco, the Abenson Appliance. There's no Macbook of course but there's a Huawei MateBook. Huawei laptops will always be my second choice in terms of design, performance, and portability.

So I just say goodbye to MacBook and say hello to Huawei MateBook D 14. I want it slim and small for portability so I settled for D 14. The D 15 was also on display.

As a protocol, the sales agent would open the unit and show you that your purchase item is in good working condition. I have to stop him from opening the box. I told him to wait I'll record him while unboxing, I'm doing a blog, he will be the featured guest. Lol. So without further ado, here's the unboxing video.

Huawei MateBook D 14 is slim and minimalist in design. Fitted with 1920 x 1080 IPS with bezels just 4.8 mm making the FullView display looks nearly endless. You are in for a visual treat with a vivid beautiful screen with its viewing angle of 180°.

With the new normal setup, students and productivity users may consider this device for the considerably best value for their money, getting the same performance and display with no more expensive options like MacBook Air or Surface Laptop.
