The legend of Tamarind.

Once upon a time in a distant kingdom, there were three prince friends. They are Prince Samuel, Prince Palileo and Prince Lokario.

All three princes have bad behavior, so if they were together surely something bad will happen.

They love to bully the handicapped and mentally ill people while they despised the poor. They have no respect for the elders and if someone complains against them they send them to jail. They are only nice to the rich and the wealthy like their kinds.

One day while they were taking a hike, they passed by a river. They were tired, so they agreed to stop and rest. Not far from where they were resting they noticed some women bathing in the river.

Instead of leaving them as a gesture of respect, they ridiculed the girls. One of the girls spoke asking them to refrain from watching and laughing at them.

Prince Samuel was so angry that he suddenly slapped her while she was talking. The two others, Palileo and Lokario came forward to harm the girl as well.

An old woman who was around asked the three princes to stop harming the girls. But because they have no respect for the elders they too beat the old woman.

Suddenly everyone was shocked when they noticed the old woman was changing into a fairy. The fairy then spoke and said it was time to put an end - once and for all to their evil deeds while pointing to the three princes.

People were shocked at the sight of the three princes' eyes dropped and swallowed by the soil. This made them scared and run.

The next day everyone was startled by the sudden appearance of a strange plant where the eyes of three princes were buried. It bore fruit and the taste is sour and at first glance, it looked like a glistening eye.

And people remembered the eyes of Prince Samuel, Palileo and Lokario so they called it Sampalok from the combined names of the three. And also because it has a sour taste as the princes' behavior.
