Weekend Getaway: Lost in translation The Tagaytay Roadtrip

Aw'right - yes, this is a late post. Lol.

Last weekend, our DSS team (@work) decided for a roadtrip to Tagaytay as part of our team's year-end get together. I never been to Tagaytay (I'm not a fan of travel, lol ) for that matter. Ehem, I'm more of a homebody type of person, plus I hate inconvenience both physically and financially (especially the latter, lol). So even if I'm not crazy (naks, ako na) about the idea still, I enlisted myself (lol) - I may be a lazy butt but definitely not a boring one, you see.
I'm on a night shift, so can you imagine the lack of sleep (lol). I told you, I hate incovenience.

At ten minutes past six in the morning, we're trailing EDSA going SLEX. While some already been to Tagaytay still they're not familiar on how to get there, thanks to the technology these days. Car and cellphone both equiped with a GPS so we're confident there's not much of a problem.

Yeah, we have actually arrived at Sky Ranch a bit too early at twenty five minutes past eight in the morning. Establishments were still closed, we had to wait for few more minutes for the restaurants to open. We had no breakfast prior to the travel. The weather wasn't very cooperative, few drops of rains can be felt on that chilly morning.

We're supposed to have our breakfast at Josephine, we heard there's a 'eat all you can' on their menu. But as I have mentioned, rains started falling so we just stayed at Sky Ranch and wait till the nearest eatery will be opened. Kenny Rogers was the first to accomodate customers.
We had our breakfast finished but we had to wait for the Sky Ranch to open. Another 30 minutes more of waiting before they finally accepting patrons. Sky Ranch is not an extreme place if you want to experience a really breath-taking, worth to be remembered rides of your life. Rides are mostly for kiddies. They have this 'Sky Eye', a big Ferris Wheel (when you're a '90s kid. Oh did I spill anything? Lol), making it its most fascinating ride. At Php 150 per head, we tried it because it's really large and we want to feel what it is like up there. It's enclosed, you won't feel your at the top of the world. I mean, 'did-we-just-really-ride-that-thing' comment actually popped up my mouth after getting off. We've just taken picture of the view from above just to make the experience a bit worthy, lol.

We roamed the place a little bit and headed to the Puzzle Mansion. It's home of the world's largest collection of jigsaw puzzles. They're the Guinness title holder by the way. Getting there is a puzzle in itself. Matter of fact, we have turned the wrong way a couple of times. We just laughed at the experience saying it's part of the puzzle, lol. Funny because the people we have asked near the vicinity are clueless about the place. The first person was on vacation from the province, so no idea what the hell is puzzle mansion. It puzzled him too, lol. The second one actually pointed us to a completely different place. The third, the kids playing on the street. It looks like they knew the place and gave us a vivid description on how to get there. As we turned our way, we asked another group of people just to make sure those kids are legit. They don't know the place, uh oh. Another group of people and still don't know.
Then I noticed that Tagaytay is home of pineapple, I mean everytime we turned, a pineapple fields would welcome us. I was fascinated, lol. We tried another people or groups for the direction and still not getting the correct one. Until finally a car approaches toward our direction, we stopped and motioned him for a stop too, lol. Good thing he's nice, we asked and finally knew the place. The kids we asked previously were correct all along. Finally after a series of turns and pineapple in the background, we reached our destination. It's a secluded place I'll tell you. Lol.
At Php 100 entrance fee you can drown yourself from staring a lot of puzzles in different colors, sizes and shapes. You can also have your photo to put into a jigsaw puzzle at Php 500, if you want a remembrance that you really visited Puzzle Mansion, lol.
The place was like a private resort because there's a swimming pool and a series of rooms piled its near end. Again it's in the middle of a pineapple fields. After solving the puzzles available in the ready table we vacated the place and went to see Leslie's restaurant for a lunch. Leslie is famous for its Bulalo but I thought Marikina's Vivian is far better tasting.
Our last stop is the Picnic Groove but we paid a visit to the nearest Lady of Manaoag first. Picnic Groove is a forest (lol), Zip lines and horse backriding are the favorites which we never attempted to try anyway (lol). We just crossed the path to the opposite end and just stares the Taal lake and the people excitedly roaming the place. We're already exhausted by that time. I was actually dozing off from to time, I mean I just came from a night shift.

Thirty minutes past four when we decided to heads back Manila. On our way back we stopped at Collette for the Buko Pie and Rowena for the tarts and other sweets. Rowena is known for its premium collection of tarts.
We get stuck on traffic upon the approach of Nuvali. We've been there for more than an hour - so stressful. If you ask me. And we got a baby on us, one of my officemates brought her 1-year old daughter. We were all praising her all day, she's the most behaved kid we knew. Not until we headed home (lol) because she's been crying non stop - like non stop (lol) that it would put everyone in panic. She never ceased from crying, when we're about to enter Alabang we made the wrong turn and entered Star Tollway. I knew we entered Star tollway and I know where it is heading but I just keep myself mum because I thought our boss (it's her car so she's the driver, lol) has something better alternative to get rid of the traffic. Then maybe she realized we were heading the wrong way, she commented, "We're supposed to be in the Sky Way, what is this place?". And that's the only time I have made the comment. "I think we're lost, this is Star Tollway and we are heading Batangas, the end of this will get us to Batangas pier. Are we going to Puerto Galera?" Lol.

We found a car parked at the side of the highway and we stopped. As we opened our window the one beside the window immediately asked not even knowing who or what the person is doing. She asked where we are and how to get back to Manila. The man was peeing and actually taken aback there were suddenly people on his back, he immediately zipped his pants. Don't know if he's finished (lol) and motioned us to follow him. He said, we're in Tanauan and we have to follow him to get to the U-turn back to Manila.
It was a tiring day, I came home forty minutes past ten in the evening. I'm not sure if I'm going back to Tagaytay any moments from now. Lol.

Weekend Getaway: iGen Huling Hirit sa Tag-init at Bakasyunan Resort, Tanay, Rizal

Yeah, iGen officially ends the summer of 2013, lol.

Right after we depart Tanay, Rizal clouds of gray to dark were starting to formed in the sky. Fistful of rains can be felt at some part of the Metro. Commonwealth is wetting as I passed by on my way home to Fairview, on Sunday afternoon or was it evening? It was 5:30PM.

iGen team building was a short noticed. It was only decided 3 days before the day of the outing. It's not surprising that attendance wasn't 100% achieved although I must say, it was well represented.

I can see people from .NET, Java/Android, ADS (App Dev), Web Designer, and as usual the ever cooperative people from SQA who came full force with a perfect attendance and ofcourse our team the usual pasaway (brat, lol) who came half of our numbers. Though I'm not sure if I ever spotted people from iOS team but all in all it was a blast and a fun outing.

We get to know people from other teams. Our department is some kind of isolated from the others. We have a dedicated room separate from the others by which the only barrier are the spaces between their workstations, lol. The only thing that connects them to us are the voices, so we can always hear them laugh when they're having fun outside.

I think we have arrived a little bit around 2PM, I'm not really so sure because my cellphone ran out of battery and that serves to be as my clock. We just rested for few minutes and started serving ourselves for a lunch. Lunch was already prepared when we arrived. It was the hottest day, we sweats a lot but still we enjoyed the food while some of those who can sing have joyfully doing the karaoke thing serenading us with "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang Dumating" and ofcourse not to be missed, "Pusong Bato", lol.

After lunch, we heads to our quarter for a rest while the others continue showing their singing skills in a KTV room we have rented. "Killing Me Softly" and "Planet of the Apes" were featured movies on Star Movies which repeated all night and day serving as the background while some were getting some nap but most were busy taking pictures.

After the break we communed for the parlor games prepared by the organizer. Originally I belonged to Green Team but Yellow Team was short of one member so I filled the vacant slot, Green Team apparently got more member. Here's my team, presenting to you the Yellow Team. I know, and yes we are the Yellow Team and not Green Team okay, lol.

We lost the first game, the Talong (Eggplant) Race but we bounced back on the 2nd, the Kalamansi (Citrus) Race using the spoon. On the third game "Find my Candy", I represented the group and we lost, lol. The game is to find the candy soaked in a whipped cream with your mouth. It was a quick game, I thought I am the quickest but when I looked around after finding my last candy. To my horror, all other teams were already finished, lol. After sixth rounds, the score card was Red Team = 2, Green Team = 2, Yellow and Blue Team with 1. Only one game left and we were dying for the win to get the 3-way tie with Red and Green Team. Good enough we won, it's the Water Relay. Now, for the deadlock game, a deciding game was agreed which was the "Egg Catching", oh too bad, we were the weakest on that game. We were the first to be eliminated on the previous game and yes true enough for the second time, again we're the first to be eliminated.

Red Team won and as consolation prize each losing team were given one free activity. We all decided for the Zipline. The Zipline wasn't an extremist one. In fact, for me it's the lousiest - I mean it's like you're only hanging in a Meralco post and to make it even disappointing you are only get to sit. No option on your stomach as if you are the real superman flying with a blankets on, lol.

We stayed overnight at Bakasyunan Resort. We have an inexhaustible supply of San Mig light and got quite some bottles of hard drinks but it looks like it wasn't the night's favorite. I haven't seen any group drinking a liquor that night oh well, I'm not really so sure though because I have retired so early in the evening. At 9PM after a soaked in the pool, I was already on my back in our double bunk bed for sleep. Prior to that, I had atleast an hour or two of swim then I get the worst muscle cramps on both legs, oh it was painful I tell you. Ofcourse, I love to swim but I don't want to push myself. It was a luck, I was able to pacify it before it will harm me with a significant damage.

I was so drained that evening because I haven't sleep yet since I had worked night shift the day before. So while my other team enjoying the night outside, me on the other hand in my own private moment enjoying the comfort of my pillow before I dozed off.

At 1PM the next day, we depart the place all contented and had a blast of fun. The fun continue inside the bus as we rode home back to Manila. We have a resident's jokers in the bus, Sir Kenneth of SQA and the other girl whom I don't know the name but she's one of the yellow team (lol) and I've overheard she's from Web dev. They're really loud and funny that from time to time we have to laughed with them.

Scattered rains on my way to Fairview and keep splashing on the window of the bus I was riding. Summer is out, welcome rainy days.

Now, this is you call - hell on earth. It's bloody floody.

Even falling leaves..

Weekend Getaway: Singer IT Reunion (One More Time) Rounding up at QC Memorial Circle

It's the second time we have this mini-reunion. This will be a regular event every two years onwards. It's our way of rekindling camaraderie and friendship among the people we have worked with in the previous company (Singer) we were working. Ate Ludy promised she'll be sponsoring the ocassion.

I set the venue, Ate Ludy wants a place that we can have some fun, fun in a way that we have time for a lengthy chit chat (gossips), I mean a typical Filipino (lol). We have done Luneta Park, last year's was La Mesa Eco Park, so I decided the Quezon City Memorial Circle. I can always see people coming in and out of this place on my way to work. Last Christmas, the place was a hit because rides were installed inside. I never set foot to the place until today.

At 9 in the morning I started receiving text messages asking how to get to the place. While I know the place, fact of the matter, I don't know how to really get there, to get inside - all I know is that it's close to Philcoa and adjacent to Quezon City Hall. "Do you think this info is good enough for you to get there?" My usual answer to every queries, lol.

It was I who have been tasked to be the event planner. Huh! Me the event planner? Good luck, lol!

The time of rendezvous is supposed to be 11AM but you know the typical Filipino time. We started arriving by half an hour past 11. I'm excited not because my package from a friend will finally delivered (I've waited a month you know, yipee lol) but some of these people I'll be meeting with, the last time I've seen them was like more than 5 years? Janet and Rhecel for example, the last time I have actually seen them was on their last day in the office after they have resigned. I get to text Janet sometimes because of Ferdie. For Rhecel, I get to connect with her through Facebook. Facebook is so useful in reconnecting people, it's so Nokia (Connecting People) if you ask me, lol.

As usual, we talk about the past how it was fun, on those days in the office. We're like family, we had our differences on some ocassions but we're always friends with everyone. Me, for example. I'm one of those notorious employees. I made some of my co-employees cry, lol. But funny, those I have a row with have become my closest friends up to this day.

I thank them for the understanding because after all I am not really mean, I'm just misunderstood, uhum okay let's put it this way, I have tantrums and I can't help it - you see, lol. It's not really my fault, haha.

I'm just happy, I get to see them again.

After eating we roamed the place for the very important thing to do when in get together party, the picture taking lol. At 4PM we decided to go home. Pleased with the experience of seeing old friends. Until then...

Weekend Getaway: The drunkards, the headaches and the mosquitoes at Amana Resort Park

OM (Officemate)
OM1: She's not coming.
ME: This is crazy. We should call this off.
OM2: It sucks, I have cancelled my High school reunion for this outing.
OM1: Yeah and like we have planned this for month for everyone to be available.
ME: Totally agree and I have shopped Forever 21 (21 Men) for my swimming gear just for this one, you know (lol).
OM2: So what are we gonna do now?
ME: Let's call Boss if she want to continue this trip with just the five of us.
OM1: I want to ride the Zipline, I want to go.
OM2: Me too.
ME: Oh the Zipline, yeah that's sounds exciting, let's go, lol.

Moment later, we found ourselves at Ayala, EDSA waiting for a commuter bus going to Sta. Maria, Bulacan. We waited more than an hour without spotting a bus routed to our destination. Then one of us suggested how about going to Cubao and take a Balagtas bus and drop at Bocaue exit. Hmm.. sounds good, so we headed Cubao and took the German Bus Line.

We arrived Shopwise - Sta. Maria fifteen minutes past eleven and all starving. We dined at Chowking, I'm not really a Chowking fan but majority agreed so I have no choice. I ordered the Sweet and Sour lauriat and a Nai Cha. My Gosh, I was taken aback with the Nai Cha it's big, it's like the McDonalds' monster float, lol.

After that sumptuous lunch, er maybe to them but for me it was no-way near to a sumptuous meal (lol), we decided to heads at the supermarket for the water and food supplies. We intended for an overnight stay. By twelve quarter we're on track going to Pandi where Amana Water Park is located, that's by way of a tricycle. It was hot, it's like riding through hell. That was quite a ride I must say, it's not the usual ride, it's so unconfortable (lol), the road is zigzagging and every time we turned left or right a "straight ahead" sign is welcoming. It was a ride that looks like eternity for me, I'm praying on every turns the tricy would stop. Finally it stopped.

We didn't pre-booked because the rooms in their website are all available and we want to see it up close and personal before we go for the rooms best suits to our needs. But here's the catch upon inquiring, all air-conditioned rooms are fully booked till the next day. Cottages were left available, we're reluctant deciding on taking the cottage or we just heads home as the options. But we're already there and we have gone through hell for that matter, so better stay and maybe stay awake for the next 24 hours (and we haven't sleep yet since we're rendering a night shift schedule). Well, cottages are open and the place was like in the middle of a forest, so mosquitos must be somewhere or maybe everywhere. In the end, we took a cottage and decided to just have a drink and swim the whole night lol.

The most eye catching about Amana is their giant pool that splashes waves and the action figures from different movies that spread everywhere inside the resort. An Anaconda with a mouth wide open will greet you upon entering while Spiderman is lurking somewhere up at the souvenir's shop. A walk away from the entrance and Mr. Bean is sitting on a bench with his trademark face (smile) not far, were DC's Justice League, also in the vicinity are Marvel's, The X-Men and The Avengers. Also present are the Shrek, Indiana Jones, the Lord of the Rings and a lot more who are willingly wants to serve you as a props to your ultimate fantasy - the picture takings.

Also one of the exciting service that Amana offers is the Zipline. Oh my Gosh, for a moment I thought I was Superman in a blanket (lol). Yeah, I've tried flying with it and it's cool, love it. Now, if swimming is your (peg) then help your self from a lot of swimming pools to choose from. We started swimming at 5PM, we waited until some vacated the place especially the children, they're everywhere and suffocating if you ask me.

At 8PM, we decided to have a drink. Beers are expensive but still we want to enjoy the night, so never mind if it was half the price. We're drinking like a pro (lol) that we have to buy another cans and this time we decided to rent a karaoke machine. In short we're busted. We get drunk and totally smoked while singing in between. By 1AM, I started to feel the bad headache. From time to time I have to soak myself in the pool to perhaps it could help ease the bad headache. But swimming only left my whole body to ache more after displaying my prowess for doggie style (lol). Ehem but seriously, I have a talent for swimming.

By 2AM, I'm so tired. Got out of the pool and showered. I tried to sleep but to no avail, mosquitoes were annoying. So, I just pretending to be sleeping as not to bug from drinking again.

Now, here's one - if you wanna see a pea-cock.. cock.. cock lol.

Weekend Getaway: The Luzon Invasion, Part 3 of 3 – Putong Calasiao and the Lady in Manaoag

After that sumptuous lunch at Isdaan, we took a minute of exploring the vicinity. We visited the infamous part of the place, the other side of Isdaan of which you can release all your anger and hatred in the world by throwing plates into pieces.

So, if you’re dreading someone but is unable to kill them, lol. Don’t worry, there’s always a place to go, and that is Gerona, Tarlac. Here, you can unleash your darkside ala the Hulk, by smashing a TV sets on the wall or wreaking havoc by throwing plates into a million pieces.

And if you want it to be dramatic you can always add props, perhaps a banner that bore the face of the person you want mother earth to swallow it whole, lol.

Now, we were getting late so we decided to pay the Lady of Manaoag a visit.

We arrived at four, the once sunny day had suddenly shifted its mood and pouring rains actually welcomed us. We bought candles and distributed to each of us. There wasn’t a crowds, the atmosphere was calm. Four candles were handed to me, immediately I went to the other side, the vacant one. I lighted all four and offered prayers to the Lady of Manaoag. While praying the Our Father, I forgot some of the lines, lol. I have to repeat it thrice until I am convinced it sounded, RIGHT. Toinkz.

After lighting the candles and prayers were offered, we went inside the church to hear mass.

Manaoag, Pangasinan is one of the famous places in the Philippines; it is where the church of the Lady of Manaoag is located. Millions of devotees from all over or even outside the Philippines, visit here to see and offer prayers to the lady saint.

We waited till the mass ended and explored the place outside the church wherein you can buy pasalubong, there were lots of fruits and candies displayed on the sidewalks. We bought the famous Putong Calasiao, tupig, and some tart candies.

It was half an hour past five and the rains started pouring heavily, so we get inside the car and headed back to Manila. Heavy rains, followed us, as we left Manaoag.

Traveling back to Manila was long, I had headache till the next day.

Weekend Getaway: The Luzon Invasion, Part 2 of 3 - Isdaan with Erap and Coy

Trip to Hermosa, Bataan was a productive one that after changing ideas and requirements with the client we're ready to vacate the place. It was already half an hour past one o'clock and we were all starving. We decided to visit Manaoag and climb Baguio afterwards.

That was the original plan.

It was a long journey going back to Sta. Rita to find our way to Tarlac. We were tired, so the mood was in total silence as each of us having our own ways of taking a nap. Then out of the blue, the girls requested for a stop to the nearest gasoline station. They need to release something but abandoned immediately upon the sight of the CR. Que horror, the gestures would tell, lol.

We continued driving and a Jollibee sign was a relief to the girls and so to our delight, we were all starving. But one suggested, what we prefer for lunch - a Jollibee or in Isdaan. We unanimously picked the latter. After half an hour more, we're in Isdaan. The guard greeted us with his big umbrella all over us as we enter the place, lol.

Isdaan is a floating restaurant located along the highway of Gerona, Tarlac, and the restaurant is being managed by Barrio Fiesta that's according to my friend. It was a unique and lovely place, with a combination of native Pinoy atmosphere and at the same time it's as if you're in Thailand with all the smiling Buddha's decorated around the ponds. Upon entering, you will be greeted by a sitting ERAP. Yes, Erap was there, he got a lifesize figurine all smiling to all the visitors coming in.

My friend can't help but to hug him while other took a shot of them hugging as if ERAP was her Lolo (Grandpa). And as we walked the aisle, she screamed because the aisle suddenly moved, the aisle was actually a balsa (raft).

This floating restaurant is actually a fish pond that housed thousands of coy fishes. Everywhere you point your sight; schools of coy were merrily going to and fro. Coy Fish is derived from Koi, the Japanese name for carp. Coy fish originated from Eastern Asia, Aral Sea, Black Sea and the Caspian Sea and are widely cultivated in China and Japan. Coy is a cold water fish and are therefore advised to keep in a pond within a minimum of 1.5 meters in diameter and 4 and a half feet deep in areas that are harshly cold and a meter more of depth in areas that are hot.

Breeding of Coy first became popular in Japan in 19th century when farmers accidentally discovered these brightly colored creatures and started to raise them. Now, Coy fishes are popular that it can be found in most of the pet stores all over the world.

In Japan, Coy symbolizes LOVE and FRIENDSHIP.

While taking pictures of these beautiful creatures we were served with a big bowl of Tinolang Manok and Sinigang na Baboy with a small kaldero (boiler) of rice that is good for two persons. Immediately we abandoned the Coy and proceed to a more pressing task at hand, eating, lol.

From time to time, different groups of singers dressed in baro't saya would come to our table and offer to sing but we do not mind them, we just continue eating until we were full.

It was half an hour past three in the afternoon.

Weekend Getaway: The Luzon Invasion, Part 1 of 3 – The Talahib fields

At ten minutes past seven, I'm ready. We're on a business trip to Hermosa, Bataan. We had an ocular visit to the place to gather information on the project we are starting. It was Saturday morning and EDSA going NLEX was bearable.

I'm still very sleepy that I put on my earphone and take a nap while on road-trip. It wasn't effective; from time to time I had to investigate the commotions every time my friends having fun taking pictures on things it excite them while on side-trip. One of my friends brought her DLSR camera, so taking pictures would always be in a menu every time we had an out of town escapades.

We took the SCTex (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) for a Dinalupihan exit and we were greeted warmly by mother earth, serene feelings we're suddenly all over us. Seeing those green grassy fields all over the place was just a relief. I felt very calm seeing those beautiful landscapes and eye-catching sceneries.

Very eminent was the grassy fields of white flowery talahib. They were lovely as they enjoyed smiling back at the visitors passing by. Talahib (Saccharum spontaneum) or Kans grass belongs to the family of the sugarcane. Talahib is actually called as the wild sugarcane, and are native of South Asia. Usually grows up to three meters in height and the flowers are usually white in color and when windy months of August to September, these flowers blow with wind and fly to far distances.

Beliefs has it that if you catch the flying flowers in your hands, you can make a wish and blow it back to the wind and your wish will be granted. I love to try it but we're on a hurry so I dismissed the idea. Oh I wanna be a child again, lol.

I was really enjoying the scenery that I never resorted back to my nap. I was contented seeing mother earth in her raw beauty.

We arrived, Hermosa at fifteen minutes past eleven. Immediately, the boys had our usual moment, peeing under the Mango trees, lol. We cannot find proper CR, okay? And beside the idea was embraced after seeing one of the locals doing the same thing, lol.

After the much needed release, we visit the church. It was a lovely church and the architecture was classic, we offered a minute of prayers and ofcourse made a wish. Again, according to belief, if you entered a church for the first time and you make a wish, that wish will be granted. I have done this in every church I visited for the first time. Now, if you ask me if my wishes were granted? Well, I'm still waiting, lol!

Weekend Getaway: Punta de Fabian, Baras, Rizal

Since we have started a very top secret mission (lol), my friends and I are always on the road on weekends. It’s either scouting for anything worth for the mission (it’s really a top secret, I swear haha), planning for any strategies or just simply for plain craziness – I mean, a weekend of road tripping.
Despite coming from flu, I still had a mild headache and an occasional dry cough when I woke up Sunday morning. But you see I have sworn-in to carry out and protect anything for the mission (ahaha).

Reluctantly, I forced myself to teleport at the rendezvous. And as always, I am the first to arrive. I hate this idea, it’s a pain waiting for someone and for crying-out-loud we have agreed for the time in the first place, my superpowers were on the verge to manifestation, the good thing I was able to keep my feral state at bay (lol).

Few more minutes and they’re sprouting in the nearest port key. We’re set to travel Baras, Rizal. It’s my first, so I’m kind of excited. We’re going to Punta de Fabian; one of our friends had already booked a day ahead of us.

I didn’t know Rizal was actually far, I thought we’re just going somewhere near Antipolo. The road trip was like climbing Baguio with all the zigzagging roads. And if I were to describe Rizal it’s definitely a province of waiting shade (lol), it seems to me that in every 500 meters apart, waiting shades can be seen along the national highway, (with a distinguishable letter “Y” for Ynares, their governor).
Punta de Fabian

Twenty minutes past ten and we’re knocking the gate of Punta de Fabian. The place was lovely and very inviting. Located on top of a hill overlooking the Laguna Bay of which until this very day still flooding in its surroundings, some of the houses are still submerged to water and that the only visible part was the roofs.
Punta de Fabian

Punta de Fabian, definitely an enchanted place, the rooms are cozy; and at 6.5K per night, you can have this room (see image above). It’s a good place if you want some hormonal (lol) moments with your partner. It’s very serene and the landscape was awesome. I heard it’s one of the properties of ERAP.

Weekend Getaway: Destination Manaoag and Baguio

At 30 minutes past three in the morning, I received a text from a friend with a message gising na (wake-up). I wasn’t sleeping the whole night, my usual sleeping habit is 1:30 in the morning and we have to leave Manila by four, so I refrain myself from sleeping because it’s going to be impossible for me to wake-up that early if I have to sleep. Instead I drowned my self from watching boring movies being played over at HBO.

At exactly four, my friend was already at the gate to pick me up - it was a chilling morning, I had no choice but to put my jacket on and headed downstairs. We need to pick another friend at Quezon Avenue, EDSA; it’s going to be a threesome trip to Baguio lol. It was originally planned to be a foursome road trip but out of the blue, the night before Sunday, one of our companion had to backed-out from the team in favor of watching his favorite boxing match scheduled on Sunday.

We left Manila at thirty two minutes past five exactly; we are not familiar with the place so we brought maps, a map of entire Baguio and the other one - map of Luzon Area. I serve as the navigator as it was always my task every time we have to travel outside of Manila. Uh and mind you, I think I am very promising that I swear we could stand a chance of winning the Amazing Race lolz.

First destination - Manaoag, traveling to Manaoag was fun, we took the Concepcion route instead of the usual Mabalacat, and so at 8:30 in the morning we found ourselves lighting candles inside the Manaoag church. After we offered prayers to the Lady of Manaoag, we scouted the area for anything worth buying. Lots of fruits were displayed outside the church. We bought a kilo of Atis, Mango and Santol. Parking was a serious problem in Manaoag it takes you an hour to find one.

The Manaoag adventure was done, so we unanimously agreed to climb Baguio, and we’re crazy about the shortcut so we took the Kennon Road. We have traveled so fast that in no time we’re in Baguio, well we have a crazy driver, and she’s a psychopath of the road lolz.
Mile Hi Baguio

We’re all starving upon entering Baguio that we actually forgot to pay attention on the Lion’s head lols, we decided to have our lunch at Camp John Hay, and we ended dining at one of the diners at Mile Hi Center. After the much needed break we went straight to the church (the Cathedral) to offer some prayers after that we headed to the market place at Session Road to buy pasalubong.

It was a wet weekend, it’s raining around Baguio at that time, and we’re exhausted from walking the steep terrain of Baguio (lawet dila). After buying the pasalubongs we set to leave Baguio, we are following the Kennon Road sign but were surprised after realizing that we are actually following a Victory Liner bus, and buses I think are not allowed in Kennon Road.

We stopped at the tunnel and asked the waiting commuters what road we were taking, and they unanimously said, Marcos Highway. Uh oh, we ended laughing and continued the travel as we passed the zigzagging road of Marcos Highway. Heavy rains started to fall; a long and tiring travel back to Manila.
