Life in the Province: Slow yet Refreshing #probinsiya

It's a breath of fresh air. The slow-paced life away from the hustle and bustle of the city is a welcome change of atmosphere. I we...

Quezon City Memorial Circle on a Sunday Morning #QCMemorialCircle

I've started a new Sunday habit: jogging every Sunday at the Quezon Memorial Circle. I used to do this at Rizal Park on weekends until the pandemic came.

While I love the vibes of Luneta, the fact of the matter is that it's quite far from my place. With public transport not yet fully operational, for someone hailing from the northern part of Quezon City, Manila is simply too far.

One afternoon, while idly watching people go about their lives, I overheard some of them talking about their plan to go jogging at the Circle over the weekend. Yes, I love gossip (lol).

This gave me an idea: why not join them? I'm coming from Don Antonio, and Quezon City Memorial Circle is not that far; it can be reached by walking. So, it's decided—I'll be jogging at QCMC on Sunday morning.

I woke up as early as 4:30 AM, and at 5 in the morning, I started walking my way to the Circle. Yes, I walked. I don't have other exercises aside from a 30-minute Zumba session on some occasions, so walking seemed like the best exercise.

Walking at 5 in the morning is quite relaxing. The sun is not up yet, the winds bring a little chill, and the honking of vehicles is a faint background noise. From time to time, I bump into some random people.

At exactly 6 AM, I arrived at QCMC. It took an hour to walk there, but I didn't feel tired at all. There were already a lot of people arriving—in pairs or in groups. The guards at the entrance require everyone to wear a mask and a face shield. Vendors outside sell these accessories if you happen to forget one.

Upon entering, a variety of plants are displayed everywhere. For someone who is a trying-hard (lol) plantito, the sight is simply irresistible—it's heaven on earth.

While everyone is wearing a mask, social distancing is not strictly observed. People in groups are running side-by-side, and there should be guards on the lookout or roaming around the place from time to time, but they didn't seem to bother.

Luckily, I found a less crowded spot with only a few people, allowing for jogging a meter apart.

There is a lot going on inside the park throughout the morning. You can find Zumba groups in different locations, bikers on the other side, boxers in training—punching here and there (lol), people playing badminton, and much more.

It was a great morning for relaxation.

Now, as usual, I've prepared a video for you to see up close and personal.
