Crowds Waiting for the Opening of Dolomite Beach #DolomiteBeach

Since the Covid-19 restrictions in Metro Manila have gradually been lifted, outdoor activities are now allowed in parks.

I’ve been a regular at Luneta Park on weekends for my morning jogs, but lately, I haven’t done much physical activity. So, I thought it might be a good time to explore some new hobbies.

I woke up early at 4 AM to check if the weather was good. It had rained the other day, and I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be heading out into bad weather. 😂

Yesterday marked the celebration of the 124th Independence Day—perfect timing! I thought I might catch some events later in the day. I heard that President Duterte would be attending the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal Monument. I was eager to see him up close. Yeah, wishful thinking! 😂

I also had my sights set on visiting Dolomite Beach. I’d heard (again, 😂) that it would be reopening that day. Dolomite Beach is one of the government’s more controversial projects, with a lot of buzz surrounding it—mostly negative. I don’t quite understand why, though. I think it’s a good initiative. After all, healing Mother Earth is never a bad thing, right?

Remember when Claire Danes said Manila was just a stinky city filled with cockroaches? She saw it herself while filming a movie at the Jones Bridge. Back then, I’ll admit, Manila did have its challenges.

I jogged until 8 AM, waiting for the Independence Day activities to begin, but eventually, I got tired of waiting. So, I decided to head to Dolomite Beach, which is within walking distance of Rizal Park.

When I arrived, there was already a significant crowd, but the beach was still closed. I overheard that it would reopen sometime in the afternoon.

Afternoon, huh? Nope, I wasn’t in the mood to wait again. So, I just took some videos from the sidelines.

And here they are, ready for you to check out. Enjoy!
